TEACHING LEARNING PROCESS OF SCIENCE CLASSROOM AT SECONDARY LEVEL SCHOOLS: AN EXPLORATORY STUDY

The objective of this paper is to find out the profile teachers teaching science at secondary level and study classroom transaction process with reference constructivist approach teaching. was conducted through qualitative method. For researcher selected 20 schools from Vaishali district Bihar, India. investigator used information blank for developing their observation schedule examining learning process. frequency, percentage descriptions accordingly interpretations are made. found that i) Teachers well qualified as 60.86% have B.Sc., B.Ed. 39.13% M.Sc., qualification, ii) 30.43% attended in-service programmes like pedagogy, ICT in etc. organised last three years, iii) 78.26% never test previous knowledge before 73.91% engage students create interest topics, iv) 82.60% encourage learners asking questions class 86.95% distributes throughout class, v) use locally available things materials illustrates concepts variety examples local context, change method per mood learners, vi) 52.17% allow interact each other group work 91.30% activates during vii) no teaches how learn a topic, suggests references uses classroom. self-reflection, divergent thinking among focus on viii) asks objectives lesson, ask question beyond textbook provides home assignment requires enquiry. has suggested implications teachers, teacher educators government improve quality education level.
